Through the visionary leadership of Dr. Jerryl Banait, AVI Foundation has ignited substantial policy transformations. With multiple Public Interest Litigations, he has sparked impactful change, including two significant national policy shifts in wildlife conservation and healthcare. Amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Jerryl Banait's PIL (Supreme Court case number 10795/2020) secured essential PPE kits for healthcare workers across India. His efforts also led to the provision of police protection for healthcare workers, deterring violence and ensuring their safety. Notably, his advocacy led to a groundbreaking amendment to the Epidemic Act of 1897, empowering the country to enforce stricter penalties against those who threaten healthcare workers.
